I've always lived in the in-between - culturally, emotionally, and creatively. As a queer Punjabi–Puerto Rican artist raised between worlds, liminality isn't just a theme in my work, it's the ground I stand on.

 

My practice is multidisciplinary- shaped by a background in architecture, sustained through photography, painting, and installation. Architecture taught me to think spatially: how bodies move through space, how light behaves, and how thresholds get crossed. Painting sharpened my eye for color and emotional tone. Across every medium, I translate internal emotional landscapes into shared, physical experiences: a negotiation between structure and chaos, presence and absence, self and shadow. That's exactly where I want to live.

Between Us is a six-week community portrait residency built around liminality: the in-between states of time, space, and identity we all move through, often without naming them. Each week's theme sits somewhere on that spectrum: what we're carrying, where we come from, and who we've become. In partnership with ECAP, the Emeryville Senior Center, and Big Daddy's Community Garden, the portrait studio also travels into spaces already rooted in this community - honoring the people who hold it together. Every portrait accumulates into one collective installation at the closing show - revealing patterns of care, uncertainty, resilience, and connection, and reinforcing the idea that none of us move through these liminal moments alone.
